Please join the LGBTQ Behavioral Health Coalition of Southern Arizona and the LGBTQ Consortium for the 4th annual statewide LGBTQ Healthcare Conference: Let’s Get Better Together: A Quality Look at Healthcare in Arizona!
The theme of the 2015 Let’s Get Better Together Conference is A Dialogue on the Intersections of LGBTQ identity.
Conference sessions will discuss healthcare practices for adults and children who identify in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, or Two-Spirit populations AND “something else” meaning LGBTQ communities that experience other identities.
The Conference will be held at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador and features:

Keynote Speaker Raúl Alcaraz Ochoa and the Rainbow Defense Fund
- NEW for 2015! A Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Track for the 18 conference workshops
- NEW for 2015! A Town Hall session to spark dialogue among Conference attendees about the most important current LGBTQ issues in Arizona
- A Pre-conference LGBTQ Leadership Session on May 7th (more information below)
- An Expo of LGBTQ and Behavioral Health vendors
- Networking time with LGBTQ behavioral health leaders in Arizona
Let’s Get Better Together Pre-Conference Leadership Track
The leadership track of the LGBTQ conference, held on Thursday May 7th, is designed for individuals in a leadership role (or in a position of influence in their organization) who are devoted to enhancing the organization’s competency in serving the diverse needs of clients and staff. Attention will be given to the following:
1. Review of national CLAS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services) standards with specific attention to ethnic, sexual, gender identity/expression and their intersections.
2. Apply lessons from personal experiences of those who have transitioned in the workplace to inform agency policy and practice
3. Review of specific agency policies to address areas of strength and areas of improvement
4. Develop strategy for improving with agency competency to address diverse staff and client need
5. Network with agencies that have successfully implemented change in organizational culture
